THE CORE: ACTIVE REJUVENATION

My philosophy and the method to reactivate the magical essence within us. No drugs, no illusions. The only anti-aging code you will ever need.

The Boundary of Science and the Power of Will

In the last twenty years, in the many gyms where I practice martial arts, people who didn’t know me always asked the same question: “Excuse me, but how old are you?”

After, during a judo match, I threw our 90-kg national champion and earned an Ippon, the coach of that gym exclaimed: “Russian magic!” He jokingly implied I was using anabolic steroids, even though my romance with steroids had ended in the early 2000s. At that time the comment was relevant: there was a political scandal in which WADA accused several Russian athletes of using banned substances.

Ten years ago, in the gym where we practiced MMA and grappling, the coach secretly admired my physique. Since the muscular strength I displayed was one of the key factors in winning, he decided to start weight training as well. Watching his workout, I despised his methodology, but he insisted it was the cutting-edge system and that “the Internet says you must train this way.” Without arguing too much, we made a bet: who would gain more muscle in one year?

The Bet and the Proof of the Method

We weighed ourselves in September: he was 70 kg, I was 78 kg. Before the bet I had barely touched a barbell for years—my training was pull-ups, push-ups, and similar exercises. I started lifting seriously, following my method and adopting a protein-rich diet. After nine months, I accumulated micro-injuries in my right shoulder and left elbow—common issues among martial artists. So I stopped practicing MMA and grappling, but I did not give up weights, and I kept training intensely in my well-equipped home gym.

I didn’t see the coach all summer. When I returned to MMA and grappling classes in September, I already weighed 85 kg, while he remained at the same 70 kg as the previous year. Looking at me, he said just one word: “Steroids.” The idea that something outside ordinary conventions could exist simply didn’t fit in his mind. In this text, I want to show you that the shared agreements we call “our reality” are merely conventions that, once examined closely, turn out to be false.

In this text, I would like to demonstrate that the shared agreements we call "our reality" are merely conventions which, after careful examination, turn out to be false.

Age: A Falsifiable Convention

What is age? They say it is the time of life, that is, the number of years a person has lived since birth. Is this statement true or false?

Since I hold two degrees—one in biochemistry and the other in medicine—my way of thinking is scientific. I do not use metaphysical reasoning based on "I think so", despite the fact that almost 250 years ago, Immanuel Kant in his masterpiece Critique of Pure Reason left nothing unexplored in metaphysical reflections. Nevertheless, people, with surprising determination, continue to base their reasoning on "I think so".

The Hayflick limit and the dialectical solution

Medical science explains that the aging of the human body is due primarily to the Hayflick limit. Scientists have found a positive correlation between overall physical aging and aging at the cellular level. They also discovered that stem cells have a higher division potential. This discovery led to clinical trials on the use of stem cells for rejuvenating the human organism. Yet, as I said before, no concrete results—just many promises.

Science itself, thanks to Georg Hegel, who gave humanity his work titled Science of Logic, affirmed that in a dialectical movement there is always a thesis, an antithesis, and a synthesis. Thus, the boundary—in our case, aging and death—becomes a frontier to cross, not a barrier that separates, but a necessary moment in the process of growth of our awareness that contains body and spirit.

These continuous crossings are the abstract cores of all my stories in the collection titled Stalking Himself.
